Brent Arrives...

April 30th--Happy Birthday, Shanda! We wish the title of this blog said "Brent and Shanda Arrive", but we were happy to have Brent come visit us in Florence. Since we knew we had a packed next couple of days entertaining Brent, we decided to just take it easy today and not do a whole lot. Brent was on a business trip in Asia and then was heading to Luxembourg, but decided to spend the weekend with us. He traveled to Florence by train from Bologna. Since the trains left Bologna every 30 minutes, he was going to just catch the first train he could after his flight. He was supposed to call us once he got on the train so that Mike could meet him at the train station, but as it turns out, his cell phone was not working. So, Mike and I sat here for a while wondering where in the world he was. Finally, Mike decided to just head to the train station and see if he was there. It just so happened that the train that arrived while Mike was at the station was the one Brent was on. So it worked out that they found each other in the train station. By the time Brent got to the apartment, he had been up for 24 hours and was exhausted.
